Trade and Negotiations Training
A foundational knowledge of trade policy
A rapid run-through of the history, core principles, potential implications and current debates - delivered engagingly and accessibly.
Give your teams the trade policy information they need to understand the conversation and then let them get back to work.
Instead it focuses on what the policies are, how they work in practice, where they can impact the things your organization cares about, and what's really involved in changing them.
Prepare for and execute complex negotiations
Built on experience negotiating trade agreements and at the World Trade Organization, it provides a structure and methodology that can help drive outcomes and improve team confidence.
For new-starters, this course is all about providing the steps to take, questions to ask, and research to do ahead of talks to enter them with confidence.
For experienced negotiators, it provides some additional tips and tricks as well as a framework and language to share the often intuitive and instinctive choices they make with newer colleagues.
From London and Delhi to Buenos Aires, the mix of practical advice, real-world case-studies and thoughtfully designed simulations was hailed as a practical and actionable way to strengthen negotiation capacity ahead of major talks.
Understanding how trade negotiations unfold is critical to shaping their outcomes
A key focus is on the type and format of inputs the negotiators and decision-makers will be most receptive to at each point in the talks. Maximise your influence by being in the right place, in the right time, with the right information presented in the right way.
This course is built around the specific needs of your organization, focusing on identifying where trade talks might impact the issues you care about, and on how you specifically can shape them.
It focuses on the practical ways an organization like yours can marshal its resources and make the most of its capital to influence the outcomes that matter.
Common Questions
How many staff can be trained at once?
Class sizes can vary, from in-person deep-dive workshops for three specialists to hybrid or online presentations for hundreds of staff across the world.
Generally, a class size of 40 or fewer is optimal to ensure interactivity and adequate time for questions.
How much do training courses typically cost?
Prices are agreed on a per-course basis, based on the duration, location and format of the content to be delivered.
They range from under a thousand USD for a short and general online lecture or public speaking appearance to several thousand for longer, bespoke courses delivered in-person.
Regardless, costs are a fraction of what you would pay to send even a single colleague to a comparable academic institution.
Do you work with other trainers?
Yes, ExplainTrade often partners with others who brings specialized expertise and alternative perspectives.
Our training courses can fit into a larger package you're putting together, and we can assist in finding specific experts on topics of interest where you would like a deep-dive.
Can training sessions be recorded?
Our general policy is that sessions are not recorded except with prior-agreement, which is generally given exclusively on the understanding it will be used for current colleagues who are absent or unable to attend a session.
If you are interested in collaborating to design a more permanent e-learning or video learning package for your staff now and into the future, we would be happy to assist.
What if I'm dissatisfied with your training?
In over five years of training delivery we have never had a dissatisfied client, and we will make every effort to maintain that streak.
With that said, all ExplainTrade invoices are issued only after a training has been delivered and we will not charge clients who believe the course did not meet their expectations.
